He makes similar movies because he knows the system won't make it, why bother. Elysium was almost like that and somebody at Sony who in Sony fashion had no idea who they hired as writer director after he made a movie scathing racism and apartheid, and had to say in the nerdiest pussiest way "WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH YOU CAN'T JUST MURDER THE PEOPLE TREATING THE EARTH AS TRASH" because that movie was I guess supposedly much more to do with Kill Bill style revenge porn once people got to Elysium. There's a reason people still love that movie. District 9 is pretty unique among his filmography for how it was edited so meticulously. It also seems like it maybe related to this concept by Doug “please look at me neill blomkamp” Williams (thanks to Nightmare Asylum for the shout). This may in fact be the creature in the first picture above and not a chestburster attack.
Update 14/06/21 – Geoffroy has uploaded some more concept artwork, this time showing off what appears to be a character named Miller trapped and being attacked by a new form of the Alien (a Trematode).
